Topham Park is holding a series of one hour Pitching Training sessions over nine Thursdays in January- April 2026. These sessions will be held at Tredway Woodsworth Public School located at 112 Sedgemount Dr, Scarborough, ON M1H 1X9. Each session will be limited to 10 pitchers only.
Session Dates: January 29, February 5, 19, 26, March 5, 12, 26, April 2, 9
Session Times: Sessions will be 1 hr. Pitchers will be assigned a time slot based on age/division once registration is closed.
- 6:00-7:00pm
- 7:00-8:00pm
- 8:00-9:00pm
Cost: $225 per player, due upon registration.
Catchers: Pitchers must supply their own catcher. Catcher must be an adult or a player registered with our house league. Please let us know if you may need a loan of catching equipment.
Equipment: Pitchers will need to bring their own glove (balls will be provided) and their helmet/pitching mask. All participants must wear clean indoor running shoes. Bring a water bottle.
Program: The pitching training sessions will be focused on mechanics, particularly in the lower body. Arm speed, and proper release will be worked on, along with spins and change of speed for more advanced pitchers. The trainings will be suitable to beginners as well as more advanced players.
Instruction: Our pitching instructor is Shade Hansen of the Humber Hawks softball team. Having been involved with the PWSA for a decade, Shade Hansen is a decorated collegiate level pitcher. Shade has participated in softball as a player, coach, mentor, speaker and even umpire. At the post secondary level, Hansen has achieved Female Rookie of the Year for the 2023-24, OCAA Rookie of the Year in women’s Softball for the 2023-24 season and has been awarded OCAA pitcher of the year twice for the 2023 -24 and 2024-25 seasons. Without question Shade has a passion for softball. Moreover, with her enthusiasm for coaching, Shade enjoys sharing the knowledge she has attained over her years of playing to the younger generation of softball players!
